EMB Annual Report 2024
EMB engaged in a wide range of marine science-policy activities throughout 2024. These included the publication of the sixth edition of its flagship Navigating the Future foresight series, co-organisation of the CommOCEAN conference and engagement in a number of externally funded projects. EMB maintained its support for the UN Ocean Decade, including the EMBracing the Ocean artist-in-residence programme, and for the EU Mission Ocean. Navigating the Future VI
Navigating the Future VI is a flagship foresight EMB Position Paper that explores the role of the Ocean in the wider Earth system and promotes collaboration between disciplines to tackle global issues. This document aims to influence and guide international, European and national research funding programmes, policy development and inspire the scientific community. This publication aligns with and provides input to important initiatives such as the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters, aiming to enhance awareness of the Ocean's critical role in addressing the climate, fresh water and biodiversity crises while supporting human health and wellbeing.

We are delighted to introduce our two new EMB Young Ambassadors! We can now announce that Anne Gaspers, a PhD candidate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway which is part of the Norwegian Marine University Consortium, and a researcher at SINTEF Ocean, and Jorge Juan Santos Bruna, a PhD candidate at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), Spain, have been selected! ECOP Wednesdays June 2025

On Wednesday 4 June 2025, EMB and its Young Ambassadors will host an ECOP Wednesday series event on the topic of "Using models to assess the climate change impacts on the Nordic Sea circulation and its connection to the UK shelf seas". The session will feature Parvathi Vallivattathillam as a speaker. The talk will be followed by an interactive Q&A discussion. The event will be one hour long, from 14:00 - 15:00 CEST.
